I posted yesterday about we had been invited to watch PawPatrol Live, well after the show we had a little wander around the shops before heading to lunch.
Now normally when we go into Cardiff we pretty much always end up eating at a fast food chain and I don’t really know why this is, maybe as it’s convenient and quick. I hadn’t really thought about why we don’t go somewhere nicer for a change. As I’m sure we could spend that little bit more and have a much healthier tastier lunch.
St Mary’s Street Cardiff
From Vegetarian to Meaty!
With a wide range of pies on the menu – from classic vegetarian, vegan and
gluten free there really is something for everyone! From the traditional creamy
mash, minted mushy peas and their famous gravy to zesty slaw, salads, chips or
Pieminister also serve their delicious soft serve sundaes from chocolatey and fruity as well as the more adventurous Pork Pie sundae which includes vanilla, apple, bacon and bourbon maple syrup with pork scratchings.
I chose the Free Ranger off of the classic menu. This is a free range British chicken and Wiltshire cured ham pie with leek and thyme, served with a boat of gravy for £5.95. I have to say that it was delicious and I ate every last scrap of it! It was so creamy and full of flavour.
Also this is a bit off topic but I never realised the different ways of eating a pie! As you can see I cut mine into slices whereas my husband cut the top off his and ate the contents first!
Anyway my husband chose the chicken of Aragon pie off the same menu. This is a free range British chicken, dry cured bacon and tarragon pie. Also £5.95.
I had a taste of their meals and I’m not sure whether it was the cheese or more likely the seasoning but it had a very strong taste to it. They did however very much enjoy the soft serve ice creams!
On an extra note I was quite impressed to see the straws used for the drinks were made from cardboard, well done on that front too!
Overall we would highly recommend taking a visit to Pieminister. The food is generous, delicious and fantastic value and the atmosphere is lovely and friendly!
