Mental health affects us all at some point in our lives. One in four of us will experience a mental health problem and 9 in 10 say they have faced negative treatment from others as a result.

What needs to happen is we need to choose to be open and honest about mental health. We can choose to have a conversation and ensure that no one is made to feel isolated or alone regardless of their situation.

Tips for starting a conversation;

  • Ask questions and listen
  • Think about where the conversation takes place – over the phone, or at home rather than in a busy environment.
  • Don’t try to fix things
  • Treat them the same
  • Be Patient

Even just sending someone a text to let them know you are thinking of them can be reassuring.
