Introducing the Learning Resources Measure Mate. This retails at £32. I always remember being back in school and using these type of measuring devices. We would walk the length of the school playground and back again. For some reason I always found them quite therapeutic.

The measure mate is a brightly coloured device which is very robust meaning it will cope with vigorous use in rough terrain. Included in the box is a set of super cute whimsical stickers, which you can use to personal your measure mate.

The vertical measure can be used to measure freestanding objects such as a bookcase. The callipers are perfect for measuring the internal dimensions of an object, for example a hole in a tree. The trundle wheel measures distance, 1 click is equal to 1 metre. The spirit level works to discover whether a surface is level and the measuring stick can be used as a ruler.

Also included you will find the Measure Mate Guide. This features fun ways in which children can use the Measure Mate, including; following footprints, stick-y situation, sandy sleuthing and more.

My Thoughts

My son in particular was very excited to receive this and he couldn’t wait to go outside and test it. In our back yard he measured the length of the patio with the trundle wheel, the distance between the balustrades and checked to see if our steps were level!

The measure mate is well made and it is sturdy. I did come across one issue which is that it is a little hard for my children to use the trundle wheel and you do need to push it quite firmly to get it to click, however you can loosen the plastic bolt making it much easier to push along. This did however cause the bolt to fall off when in use, luckily we did find it so it is probably best not to loosen it too much.

Overall though I would give this product a 9/10. It is a great educational and fun toy that both my children have and will enjoy using.
