Jurassic Coast

Fossil hunting is one of the main attractions here. We were sent a Jurassic Coast fossil kit to get the excitement going! The kit itself is full of fascinating fossils including shark teeth! Which my children were absolutely in awe of.

Also included is a handy guide and adventure story book, ‘The Dinosaur Detectives’, as well as their very own excavating kit so they can discover and dig up their own fossils and minerals!

The Jurassic Coast is a stunning location with magnificent cliffs and a beautiful coastal line. You can find fossils right along the coast, the best place for collecting is in Charmouth. You can even join a guided fossil walk where you may have more luck at finding a rarer specimen!

For children there is nothing more magical than finding a fossilised creature, helping to understand how life has changed, adapted and survived over millions of years.

The Jurassic Coast is world famous for its abundance of preserved fossils. Including those from animals and plants. These evolved during the Mesozoic era between 250 and 65 million years ago.

My husband recently took our son out for an adventure and they proudly returned with this beauty of a fossil they had found.
