Birth Story Feature #5 Suz

Today's birth story feature is from Suz at beauisblue

How old were you when you had your baby/babies?
I was 24.

How many weeks were you when you found out you were expecting?
I knew pretty quickly with missing my period. It is normally like clockwork so when it didn't appear I knew something was up! I took a cheap pregnancy test and it came up negative (I think I did it too soon, or it was a cheap knockoff - haha!), the following week it still wasnt here and I used a Clearblue Digital Test and it said I was 2 - 3 weeks pregnant!

Did you find out the sex of your baby?
We did! I don't think I could have gone without knowing! I love being organised, oh and I hate surprises! haha!

How did you anomaly scan go?
Fine, We had no problems and we were told baby was cooking away nicely!

Was your baby born on its due date?
No he wasn't! He was a day early! Impatient little boy!

Did you stick to you birth plan? (If you had one)
I didn't really have a birth plan, not because I didn't want one, just because I didn't want to sign my pain relief away by writting down something like "No Epidural" and needing it in the end!

What pain relief if any did you have?
I started with Gas and Air but I was knocking me sick, as my contractions were bad they suggested a water birth, I hated being in the water and couldn't cope with the pain so in the end opted for an Epidural! BEST.THING.EVER!!

How was your labour?
Alright, I didn't really know what to expect to be honest. I was in labour for 12 hours exactly. The first 6 hours were horrendously painful - the next 6 was a breeze due to the edipural and not feeling a thing!

How old are your babies now?
He has just turned 9 months! No idea where the time has gone!

What have been your most challenging parental experiences?
Teething! One thing I have learnt is that it is a horrible journey for both mummy and baby!

Do you have any advice for new parents?
Just go with what you think is best! Everyone and anyone will offer advice on your parenting skills, but just do what you think is right! Afterall it is you're baby!

What are your best baby buys?
For newborn to about 3 - 4 months is a swinging bouncer! We put Baby E in it to nap during the day and as soon as he was in it he was out like a light!
For 4 months plus I would reccommend a Jumperoo! Baby E loved his and I am sure it made his legs stronger as he was on the move at 6 months!

Do you want to have more children?
Yes we would love another one, we've always said we would love to have two!
